7 August 2009
The Noske Group are excited to be one of the first Transport Operator in Australia to incorporate the new Volvo Euro5 Engine into their fleet.
Noske Group – which has a focus on total organisational innovation, from equipment and vehicle combinations to internal processes and procedures. Noske have worked closely with Volvo in an effort to integrate this new high emissions standard engine into the ever expanding Noske Fleet.
“We realised that as a Transport and Logistics company – we have to do more to reduce our impact where we can on our CO2 emissions” Tony Noske, Managing Director stated . Noske understand that there is no counter argument, there is a direct link between current heavy vehicle usage and subsequent CO2 emission via fuel consumptions. Trucks currently represent approximately 6% of the Global CO2 emissions.
In reaction to this Volvo have developed the Euro5 Engine which integrates state of the art technology to significantly reduce CO2 engine emission. Euro 5 is the latest generation in a string of emission reducing engines which have been constantly upgraded and improved to meet the stringent European legislation and now the increasingly tight Global environmental. requirements. The core features of the Euro5 are improvements to existing benefits including:
- 80% less Particular Matter or soot (PM) emissions than EU3.
- 60% less Nitrous Oxide (NOx) emissions than EU3.
The Noske Group’s expectations have been exceeded with performance and fuel consumption of the Euro5 Volvo. Tony Noske advised, “we have every intention to incorporate more of these vehicles into our fleet”. The Euro 5 has lived up to its features displaying maximum torque with a broad rev range, fuel efficiency and reduced oil drain requirements – 100,000kms, extremely high engine braking effect. Mr Noske also commented on feedback from drivers explaining that every driver who has driven this Volvo has commented on the overall comfort for the driver “this helps create a safer working environment and reduces driver fatigue, which is huge component of the Noske Group “philosophy”. With fatigue management now playing such a significant part in the chain of responsibility it is initiatives like this are becoming important steps in creating a uniformed safe and healthy work place.
Noske Group are committed to continuous improvement across all facets of the business and are constantly finding new ways to both reduce their impact on the environment plus develop efficiency and productivity gains for the overall business.
